For 2D Animation, I'm going to be animating Blythe's transformation.
Blythe is cursed by a witch which turns her into a beast. She is transformed by shadow demons.
In the way of animating, I've been looking at mainly Disney transformation for reference.
There were a few old clips from werewolf movies I looked at. I thought they were a bit too grotesque for Blythe and her style. Such as the 1981 movie, An American Werewolf in London, it's very slow but also very scary. Some parts I thought were interesting that I could use, was when he see's his arms change first before him, also the growing teeth. I was looking at werewolf transformations, as Blythe as a beast looks a bit like one. I thought about maybe going for the look where the body twists and breaks and readjusting into a beast form. But I settled on the idea that it's too crude for someone like Blythe.

Since Blythe is a sweet-looking cartoon character, I thought a Disney inspired transformation would be more fitting.

Beauty and the Beast is a good example of a magical transformation, which is the look I'm going for since she is cursed. I liked the use of the lights and smoke playing a part in his transformation. Though this is more a good example of a curse getting broken.

The Voodoo Man of Princess and the Frog is a very good example, as he uses shadow demons as well. They may not do the transforming in the movie, yet they hang and fly around when it happens.
Also another thing I like about this character, is the use and greens and purples he uses. I would like to include those colours in Blythe's transformation, because it's associated with evil and curses and it also matching the witch's colour scheme.
I like the use of the green magic stuff The voodoo man uses to turn the prince into a frog. I think a mix of that and the shadow demons would be a good start of a transformation.

With Brother's Bear transformation, I liked the spin and the wispy bits aiding in his transformation. I do like the warm colors, as Blythe is a warm character, personality and color scheme-wise. But it is like Beauty and Beast, maybe more suitable for a curse being broken. He is being turned into a beast, but for Blythe it's more of a negative thing. I would still like use this as a reference as it is a easy quick transformation that uses wispy things which could be the demons in my animation.

Maleficent's transformation is a good example of someone turning into a mighty beast, and it also uses the purple and green I wanted to include in my animation. Maleficent transformation uses her silhouette, which might be a good idea to keep in mind if I want to add to the eerie look I'm planning on going for. The sparkly firework-like lights is a cool effect, and maybe something I should thinking about adding, for a magical look.
